Dorie Millerson

I create sculptures and installations using a needle lace technique and sewing thread. Themes such as memory, travel and my attachments to people, places, and possessions are explored in the pieces that I construct. I am inspired by the ability of thread to link elements together and use that propensity as a metaphor for the connections I choose to illustrate. The lace technique used allows me to draw with thread and create the illusion of depth and shading. My interests in domestic textiles, drawing, and children’s literature also inform the work that I make.
